The Vanilla Garden was better than we expected with brilliant personal service and great rooms. We were very impressed and will go back there whenever possible.

This hostel is in the middle of nowhere, meaning no buildings, mainly acres of farmland, foliage etc, so transportation is limited. It is almost 90 mins from the airport by taxi. The hostel has a minivan anyway which will assist in shuttling you around when possible, at a cost of course but prices are reasonable.

For a hostel it is fairly clean. The rooms a far cleaner than the bathrooms but you can manage. The staff is extremely pleasant and speak english very well compared to other locations. There is a restaurant on property and there is also free internet available.

Because of the location it is very quiet and peaceful. It is about 90 mins from the city centre but a short drive from Chang Ping town. Hot water is available in the rooms so you can prepare your own hot beverage, which for me was a good thing. It is good value for money if you want to visit the Great Wall at Badaling? and Ming tombs and you are on a tight budget.

Just a note that it is not near to other such accommodation in that area. Jiu Hua spa, the nearest, is 40 minutes away by car.

I would stay there again if I had to be in the area, otherwise I would stay in Beijing city.
