JEATH War Museum
It contains a replica of the thatched detention huts showing the cramped elevated bamboo bunks for the prisoners. It also contains photographic, pictorial and physical memorabilia dating from the Second World War.
The Don Rak War Cemetery
Opposite the Railway station, it contains the remains of 6,982 prisoners of war who perished during the construction of the "Death Railway".
The Chung-Kai War Cemetery
This is another cemetery, 2 Km. south of town on the banks of the Kwai Noi River. It contains some 1,740 remains. It can be reached by boat and by car.
The Bridge Over the River Kwai
The bridge is a symbol of the "Death Railway". Like all the rest of this railway line, it was constructed during 1942 using manual labor of the Allied prisoners of war linking Thailand with Myanmar (Burma). Still in use today, the curved spans of the bridge are the original sections.
Muang Sing Historical Park
This ancient site is 43 Km. out of Kanchanaburi on the bank of the Kwai Noi River. The principle structure, the Khmer Sanctuary, is believed to have been the westernmost outpost of the Ankor Wat centered Khmer Empire.
Sai Yok Noi Waterfall
Also known as Khao Phang Waterfall, 52 Km. from town, this roadside cascade can be the best visited between July and October, when water is most plentiful.
Sai Yok Yai Waterfall
This flows directly into the Kwai Noi River, and is the most popular attraction in Sai Yok National Park. Its idyllic beauty has been repeatedly celebrated in Thai poetry and song.
Kra Sae Cave
Close to the Kanchanaburi-Namtok Railway and Kwai Noi River, this cave houses a sacred Buddha image and a part of the "Death Railway".
Kaeng Lava Cave is an interesting spot to visit. It is the biggest cave of the area, and the stalactites and stalagmites are a wonderful creation of nature along this part of Kwai Noi River.
The 7-tiered waterfall, widely regarded as one of Thailand's loveliest cascades, is in the area of the national park, 65 Km. from Kanchanaburi.
Sri Nakarin Dam
70 Km. from Kanchanaburi, and just 4 Km. north of the Erawan National Park, this massive structure marks the southernmost extremity of an extensive reservoir, which is part of yet another national park.
Hin Dat Hot Spring
This hot spring with a pond for bathing is at Km. 107. A Japanese soldier discovered it beside the stream during the Second World War.
Hell Fire Pass
One part of the Death Railway during the Second World War, the pass is located near Kilometer marker 66 on the Sai Yok Thong Pha Phum Road.
Kroeng Krawia Waterfall
This roadside waterfall is often visited by passers-by. The water cascades down a limestone rock face under shady trees. It is most beautiful during the rainy season.
This is the longest wooden bridge in Thailand, linking Sangkhla Buri with Mon villages. The bridge overlooks a scenic landscape and offers an opportunity to see the way of life of the local people.
Three Pagoda Pass
22 Km. from Sangkhla Buri, the three miniature pagodas are memorials of an important route of the troops during the wartime of the Ayutthaya period. It also marks the rugged Thai-Myanmar border and is the site of a small thriving border market.
Khao Laem Dam
This hydro-electric dam is situated on the Kwai Noi River. The dam, 1,019 metres long and 92 meters high, creates a scenic reservoir upon which several private raft complexes offer opportunities for sightseeing by boat.
Pha Tat Waterfall
This huge waterfall in the area of the national park is easily accessible.
Pung-Waan Resort is nesteled amidst 120 acres of the tropical gardens, facing a 700 metres stretch of the Kwai Noi River. As such, it has become the homes of many exotic plants and birds, many of which are unique to only this part of Thailand. Guests, children and their families can enjoy a "self-education" activity at their leisure by learning the plants and birds species names on the boards being put up all around the resort. Bird tour and telescopes are also available at a nominal fee.
In addition, our resort houses a 10 acre deer park which can be visited by appointment. There are 3 species in this park, namely, Axis axis, Muntiacus muntjak, and Gazella thomsonii. The former two species are local, where as the latter has been imported from Tanzania. We are currently a part of research group conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture to study the potential of Gazella thomsonii as a farm animal.

Enjoy the beauty and serenity of the River Kwai as you paddle down the river under supervision of our experienced instructor. Canoeing is 45 min., after which you will be transferred back to the resort.

Canoeing Challenge ! Total: 2 hrs 30 min.
Work it out while enjoying the beauty and serenity of the River Kwai by canoeing down the river under supervision of our experienced instructor for 1 hr. before stopping for refreshments. One more hour to go, before being picked up for transfer back to the resort.

River Kwai Adventure ! Total: 4 hrs 30 min.
A complete experience of the River Kwai. Canoeing down the Mae Nam Noi River, a tributaries of the River Kwai, you will be thrilled passing some small rapids along the way. At half-way, you will stop for lunch and bathe under waterfalls in crystal-clear mountain water. During the second half of sailing you will pass through impressive rock-formations hanging over the river, after which you will be transferred back to the resort by car.
Option 1: Biking back 7 hrs. Non-technical 12 km. ride through the forest with some strong uphill & downhill rides. Visit rubber plantation along the way. Average physiques required.
Option 2: Biking back 9 hrs. Total 32 km. with a 20 km. technical ride on a mountain trail with some strong uphill rides. Stop half-way cooling off in crystal-clear mountain stream.
Wall Climbing ! Total: 20 min - 2 hrs.
Test your physiques by experiencing the excitement of Wall Climbing. Supervised by experienced instructors for all levels from beginners to advanced. Climbing shoes and safety equipments included.

Hiking & Waterfalls ! Total: 6 hrs.
Transfer by car to the Saiyoke Noi Ranger Station. Hike to Wang Badan Cave with a guide and a ranger. After exploring the cave, hike to a natural spring and follow the stream to the Saiyoke Noi Waterfall. Relax and bathe at the waterfall before transferring back to the resort by car.
Hiking in the Jungle ! Total: 7 hrs.
Transfer by car to the Saiyoke Noi Ranger Station. Hike to Wang Badan Cave with a guide and a ranger. After exploring the cave, hike to a natural spring and over the mountain to an elephant camp. Transfer back to the resort by car.
Junior Bike Tour Duration: 2 hrs. Biking distance: 20 k.m.
A short ride from Pung-Waan Resort to the Saiyoke Noi Waterfall. At the steep climb towards the waterfall, we will bring up your bikes awaiting for your down-hill ride back to the resort.
Biking & Elephant Riding Tour Duration: 3 hrs.
Biking distance: 9 k.m. (~ 1 hr.)
Starting from Pung-Waan Resort, we will ride along the river bank, across a wooden-suspension bride, to an elephant camp. After 30 min. of elephant riding through the jungle, we will sail bamboo-rafts for ~ 1 hr. down the river back to the resort.
Lawa Cave Bike Tour Duration: 4 hrs.
Biking distance: 38 k.m. (~ 3 hrs.)
Starting from Pung-Waan Resort, we will ride along the river bank, across a wooden-suspension bride, then off-the-road to Lawa Cave. Explore the amazing stalactites and stalagmites and the beautiful nature around the cave, before returning to the Resort by biking.
Biking & Bamboo Rafting Duration: 3 hrs. Biking distance: 5-9 k.m. (~ 1 hr)
Starting from Pung-Waan Resort, we will ride along the river bank, across a wooden-suspension bride, to the bamboo raft station. Enjoy the beautiful nature of the River Kwai while sailing down for ~ 1 hr back to the resort.
Biking & Kayaking Duration: 5 hrs. Biking distance : 30 k.m.
Starting from Pung-Waan Resort, we will bike off-the-road through spectacular scenery of the Kanchanaburi rainforest with some challenging up- and downhill rides, to a resting area where we will have a picnic lunch. This will be followed by a fun kayaking on the River Kwai for about 2-3 hours to a pick-up point for transfer back to the resort by car.

Elephant Riding & Bamboo Rafting Duration: 3 hrs.
Transfer from Pung-Waan Resort by car to the elephant camp. Ride the elephant through the jungle and enjoy the beautiful nature of Kanchanaburi rainforest along the way for 30 min before sailing on the bamboo rafts back to the resort (1 hr).
Pha Tat Waterfall & Hin Dat Hot Spring Duration: 5 hrs.
Total biking distance: 21 k.m. (~ 2-2.5 hrs.) Hiking: 1 hr
Transfer by car from Pung-Waan Resort to Hin Dat Hot Spring. Bike for 13 km. across some challenging climbs, forests, streams and wooden bridges, to the Sai Yok National Park. Picnic-lunch at the Pha Tat Waterfall and explore the natural wonders of the park before biking 5 k.m. through an off-road track back to the Hin Dat Hot Spring. At leisure, relax, or bathe in the Hot Spring to relax your muscles before being transferred back to the resort by car.
