The Don Rak War Cemetery
Opposite the Railway station, it contains the remains of 6,982 prisoners of war who perished during the construction of the "Death Railway".

The Chung-Kai War Cemetery
This is another cemetery, 2 Km. south of town on the banks of the Kwai Noi River. It contains some 1,740 remains. It can be reached by boat and by car.

The Bridge Over the River Kwai
The bridge is a symbol of the "Death Railway". Like all the rest of this railway line, it was constructed during 1942 using manual labor of the Allied prisoners of war linking Thailand with Myanmar (Burma). Still in use today, the curved spans of the bridge are the original sections.

Muang Sing Historical Park
This ancient site is 43 Km. out of Kanchanaburi on the bank of the Kwai Noi River. The principle structure, the Khmer Sanctuary, is believed to have been the westernmost outpost of the Ankor Wat centered Khmer Empire.

Sai Yok Noi Waterfall
Also known as Khao Phang Waterfall, 52 Km. from town, this roadside cascade can be the best visited between July and October, when water is most plentiful.

Sai Yok Yai Waterfall
This flows directly into the Kwai Noi River, and is the most popular attraction in Sai Yok National Park. Its idyllic beauty has been repeatedly celebrated in Thai poetry and song.

Kra Sae Cave
Close to the Kanchanaburi-Namtok Railway and Kwai Noi River, this cave houses a sacred Buddha image and a part of the "Death Railway".

Lava Cave
Kaeng Lava Cave is an interesting spot to visit. It is the biggest cave of the area, and the stalactites and stalagmites are a wonderful creation of nature along this part of Kwai Noi River.

Erawan Waterfall
The 7-tiered waterfall, widely regarded as one of Thailand's loveliest cascades, is in the area of the national park, 65 Km. from Kanchanaburi.

Sri Nakarin Dam
70 Km. from Kanchanaburi, and just 4 Km. north of the Erawan National Park, this massive structure marks the southernmost extremity of an extensive reservoir, which is part of yet another national park.

Hin Dat Hot Spring
This hot spring with a pond for bathing is at Km. 107. A Japanese soldier discovered it beside the stream during the Second World War.

Hell Fire Pass
One part of the Death Railway during the Second World War, the pass is located near Kilometer marker 66 on the Sai Yok Thong Pha Phum Road.

Kroeng Krawia Waterfall
This roadside waterfall is often visited by passers-by. The water cascades down a limestone rock face under shady trees. It is most beautiful during the rainy season.

Mon Bridge
This is the longest wooden bridge in Thailand, linking Sangkhla Buri with Mon villages. The bridge overlooks a scenic landscape and offers an opportunity to see the way of life of the local people.

Three Pagoda Pass
22 Km. from Sangkhla Buri, the three miniature pagodas are memorials of an important route of the troops during the wartime of the Ayutthaya period. It also marks the rugged Thai-Myanmar border and is the site of a small thriving border market.

Khao Laem Dam
This hydro-electric dam is situated on the Kwai Noi River. The dam, 1,019 metres long and 92 meters high, creates a scenic reservoir upon which several private raft complexes offer opportunities for sightseeing by boat.

Pha Tat Waterfall
This huge waterfall in the area of the national park is easily accessible.

Edu-Tourism Activities
Pung-Waan Resort is nesteled amidst 120 acres of the tropical gardens, facing a 700 metres stretch of the Kwai Noi River. As such, it has become the homes of many exotic plants and birds, many of which are unique to only this part of Thailand. Guests, children and their families can enjoy a "self-education" activity at their leisure by learning the plants and birds species names on the boards being put up all around the resort. Bird tour and telescopes are also available at a nominal fee.
In addition, our resort houses a 10 acre deer park which can be visited by appointment. There are 3 species in this park, namely, Axis axis, Muntiacus muntjak, and Gazella thomsonii. The former two species are local, where as the latter has been imported from Tanzania. We are currently a part of research group conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture to study the potential of Gazella thomsonii as a farm animal.
